Mombasa

Mombasa is a coastal city located in the southeastern part of Kenya. It is built along the Indian Ocean stretching from an island connecting to the mainland. Mombasa was the first capital of British East Africa and this makes it the oldest city in Kenya. It is the second largest city in the country after Nairobi. Mostly occupied by non-Swahili Bantu, the south coast is situated about 36km south of the mainland’s Mombasa city. The south coast hosts Diani beach with several beach resorts ideal for leisure and business travel and an airport at Ukunda town which offers flights to and from different airports and airstrips in Kenya.

Mombasa boasts numerous attractions including Haller National Park, Nguuni wildlife Sanctuary, Fort Jesus, Vasco Da Gama monument, Mombasa Marine National Park and Reserve, white sand beaches like Nyali, Diani and Bamburi. How to get to Mombasa
From Nairobi, Mombasa can be accessed by road, air and railway transport. By road, the two cities are 301 miles apart. To transfer from Mombasa to Nairobi by road, the Mombasa-Nairobi express highway offers a smooth road trip.
