Nyeri

Situated in the central highlands of Kenya, Nyeri is the county headquarters of Nyeri county. it is situated between the eastern slopes of Aberdare ranges and the western slopes of Mount Kenya. The area boasts fertile soils which support food production through agriculture and this is one of the reasons for its low cost of living compared to other cities.
Nyeri was home to the central administrative headquarters of the Kenya’s former Central Province. Today, it is an administrative town harboring a number of government offices.

The tomb of Robert Baden Powell: Lieutenant-General Lord Baden-Powell was the founder of the Scout Movement. He was also a commander during the Boar War. After his death, a museum was built and named after his name and declared a place of pilgrimage for the Worldwide Scouting and Guiding Movement.
The Italian War Memorial Chapel: this is one of the top places to visit for heritage and cultural tours. It was built in honor of the Italian soldiers and their African counterparts who were recruited to fight in the Second World War. People gather at this chapel every 2nd November to commemorate the lives of the Italians and the African who were killed during the war.


How to get to Nyeri
Nyeri is situated about 150km north of Nairobi and most transportation is by road. It has a tarmacked road in good condition connecting to Nairobi. It also has well maintained roads connecting to other surroundings including Nakuru, Nanyuki and Othaya among others.
